THE CALCUTTA GUJARATI EDUCATION SOCIETY

The Calcutta Gujarati Education Society, located in Central Kolkata behind the Tea Board near B.B.D. Bagh, was established in 1893 and was the first Gujarati education society in Eastern India. It began with just 20 students, driven by the vision and commitment of respected patrons of education. Over the years, it has grown into a reputed institution encompassing both school and college education, now celebrating a proud legacy of over 132 years.

Eminent personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, and Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa have visited the institution, contributing to its heritage and prestige. Their association continues to inspire future generations and instill a sense of pride among students.

The Society manages The CAG College (CAGC), a prestigious institution affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), since 2006.
